Summary
We collect the minimum information needed to deliver your courses, issue your certificates, and keep the course records that approved professional-development providers are expected to retain. We hold those records for at least five years.
What we collect
- Account info: name and email when you enroll. We use passwordless email sign-in, so there’s no password to store.
- Contact form: name, email, and your message when you write to us via /contact/ — used only to reply to your inquiry, never added to a marketing list. We don’t store submissions ourselves; they’re relayed by email (via Resend) to our support inbox.
- Course activity: Knowledge Check answers, reflections, Final Exam responses, and completion timestamps.
- Payment info: processed and stored by Stripe; we never see your full card number.
- Operational telemetry: anonymized page views (GA4) and error logs.
How we use it
- Deliver your courses and certificates.
- Keep course records for at least five years, so we can support your license renewal and meet the record-keeping standards that apply to approved PD providers.
- Send transactional email (welcome, certificate ready, completion).
- Improve courses (aggregated, anonymized analysis of reflections — PII is redacted before analysis).
Cookies
We use a small number of functional (strictly necessary) cookies to keep you signed in and make the site work, plus privacy-respecting analytics. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. See our Cookie Notice for details.
Who we share with
- Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), Bunny.net (video hosting — its embedded player also collects playback and session information, such as how much of a video has been watched; see our Cookie Notice), Cloudflare (hosting / CDN / workflow orchestration). Each is bound by their own privacy policy and only receives the data needed for their function.
- Government: We share data with the state education agencies that approve us as a professional-development provider, on request, as required by our provider agreements.
- We never sell your data.
Your rights
- Access / export: email info@couchcertified.com and we’ll send you a copy of your data within 30 days.
- Deletion: email info@couchcertified.com to delete your account. On a verified request we remove your personal information — your name, email, and educator identifiers — within 30 days. Some records are kept in de-identified form where the law or our provider agreements require it: your course records (reflections, Knowledge Check and Final Exam attempts, survey responses, and enrollment history) for at least five years, and any professional-development certificate you earned (a lasting credential with a public verification link). These are no longer linked to your identifying information.
